The Sno-Cruisers are an organization of about 50 families from the Big Lake area and surrounding communities. We are a family oriented club, our members range from children to seniors, and come from as far away as the Twin Cities, Milaca, Buffalo, and Clear Lake.  The club was formed in the late 1960s and is one of the oldest snowmobile clubs in Sherburne County.

The Sno-Cruisers do much more than just ride snowmobiles and maintain trails!  We are a year-round club that is involved with several different aspects of our area communities.

Besides club meetings and trail work sessions, we participate in community events, organize safety programs, and hold fund raisers.

Many of the club happenings are a cooperative effort with our sister clubs the Elk Lake Easy Riders of Zimmerman, and the River City Snow Riders of Elk River.  All three clubs have representatives in the Sherburne County Snowmobile Trail Association .

The club is proud to be a part of our local communities. We have participated in several area events such as the Big Lake Spud Fest, Zimmerman Wild West Days, and of course the Big Lake Winterfest (1990-2001).

In addition, the club raises funds to assist area organizations. Through club fund raising events and charitable gambling proceeds from our sites at The Refuge, and Jims Bar we are able to help those in need in our communities.

Donation recipients include area Police and Fire departments, Special Olympics, Big Lake Food Shelf, Youth Sports, Animal Humane Society, and many others.  Click this link when available to see our requirements for consideration (As a general rule, we donate to local organizations only).  Click this link when available to see the organizations donated to in the past.  To request to be reviewed by our charitable donations committee, please fill out an HTML based form or the Word Document.

We strive to promote the sport of snowmobiling in a safe, responsible manner. The club works with DNR conservation officers and local law enforcement to help keep our trails as safe as possible. The club offers Youth Safety Training classes each year which are taught by our own DNR certified volunteer safety instructors.

In addition, the club hosts a Snowmobile Awareness Day near the Sand Dunes State Forest during the first weekend of Snowmobile Safety Week.

The club has a long history of racing, dating back to the days of small oval tracks on the fields east of Big Lake. The club was proud to co-host the WSA Pro-Ice Series Championship Races as part of Big Lake's Winterfest from 1990 to 2001.  Club members volunteered to help in all aspects of the race including event planning, sponsorship, track setup and maintenance, gate sales, and fan parking.

There are almost 200 miles of snowmobile trails in Sherburne County. This is a Grant-in-Aid trail system which is only possible through cooperation of Club Members, Landowners, DNR, and the Riding Public.

The trails are established and maintained by the three area clubs and groomed by the Sherburne County Snowmobile Trail Association.

Of course, we like to have a little fun too. The club has activities for all seasons which the whole family will enjoy. Most events are held every year and are organized by volunteer club members. These include:

Weekend Trail Rides on our trails

Winter Outing Snowmobile Trip

Spring Trail Cleanup and Potluck

Float Building & Local Parades

Summer Outing Camping Weekend

Fall Trail Setup and Pig Roast

The club dues are $30/yr for individual or entire family. This includes membership in the Minnesota United Snowmobilers Association (MnUSA), a $20 value.  Joining is easy. Just send your name, address, and phone number, along with a check made out to the Big Lake Sno-Cruisers to:
